Its all about photography
Depth of field
Hi, let's talk about photography. I’m not an expert in this field nor am I a pro but I have decided to pursue learning this beautiful art. Since I’m in the midst of learning photography I have come across with few very important points and Im going to share that with you. It's called the "depth of filed”.
(a)
(b)
(c)
Look at these three pictures. They illustrate depth of field. In each case what part of each picture is your eye drawn to look at? you will find that your eye is naturally drawn towards whatever is in focus in the picture. In picture (a) the front bottle is in focus and the rear bottle is out of focus (b) both front and rear bottles are very much in focus. In picture (c) the focus is on the rear bottle. In order to get this shallow depth of field effect I used the largest aperture I could get on the lens I was using. By the way the largest aperture is obtained by selecting the smallest f number for the lens in use. So, for example, f2.8 is a larger aperture than f22, smaller the number the bigger the aperture is. The bigger aperture, the more light can come in to the camera when you take a picture, but the more shallow the depth of field will be.
This is another example of the depth of filed |
